| Writing has always been a part of me. I began with short stories and poetry in elementary school, and my voice has developed through a couple of decades of practice and experience. I have won awards and publishing opportunities on a small scale, and I am hoping to publish a novel called The Ugly House soon. I also have a novella and collection of short stories that are ready for publication, and I am currently at work on three new novels. Fascination with the extraordinary details in ordinary things is what drives my pen. I have attended the San Diego Writers' Conference once and the Maui Writers' Conference three times (the latter at which I was a finalist for the Rupert Hughes Award contest in 2005). I have featured as a writer/poet in the Southern California region (opportunities so far in Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Orange, La Jolla, National City, and throughout San Diego), while I continue to read at open mic nights (most regularly at First Fridays at the Grove in South Park) in the San Diego area. I was the host of the Soapbox open mic at the Livingroom in Old Town for a year. |
